In 1987, as Theatre Club of the Palm Beaches, the theatre began producing plays for mainstage audiences at the Duncan Theatre Second Stage on the campus of Palm Beach Community College. In 1991, the company moved to a new 250-seat space in nearby Manalapan and became Pope Theatre Company. In September of 1997, to begin its second decade, the company took its new name, Florida Stage.
As the southeast's only theatre dedicated to producing exclusively new and developing work, Florida Stage is recognized both locally and nationally as a leader in its industry.
